Why wouldn't they? Time and again we have seen that there are zero repercussions for when law enforcement lies at an individual level and at an organizational level.
As an aside, I'm surprised they implemented a history feature so early in the testing phase of the program. There are a few good ways to read that and a lot of cynical ones.
