What statement do you consider anti-advice?

Just as there are anti-patterns, what "advice" is more dangerous than helpful?

Advice itself can be an anti-pattern in relationships, including work relationships.

A number of personality models show that informational advice is perceived as condescending or didactic, by those who prefer to be listened to empathetically, after which they prefer to solve their own gosh darn problem, TYVM.

So it can help to start with an empathetic statement, and then directly ask, "are you looking for advice? I wouldn't want to presume." It can also help to directly refer to the advice as an idea, or an option, clearing the possibility that it's all about you and how great your direction is.

'Be yourself'

I'm actually a headcase/unstable so being myself is not an option in most social situations.

"be yourself"

"Do what you love and the money will follow."

"No pain no gain."
