Wait! How was it against third-party tracking, when its entire purpose was to present advertisers with an alternative to tracking with third party cookies or browser fingerprinting? Yes, Google argued that it was designed to preserve the privacy and anonymity of the users, in comparison to the other methods. But this has been copiously disputed, given that Firefox's and Safari's solution was to not provide any alternatives at all. Google kept on insisting that it was essential to meet the advertisers' need to calculate click attribution and conversion rates. They give priority to the advertisers, rather than the users. That's pretty clear in the blog itself.
One of the other (not transparency related) things i hate in the iOS 26 redesign is how difficult it has become to switch Safari profiles...
It was already bad because you can't use Shortcuts to launch a specific profile, or set the default profile to use, but now it's so cumbersome, it's become mission impossible to use.
Yup, i quit Proton (Mail) for the same reason. I had been using it for a long time…
There are so many little bugs and annoyances, it’s frustrating to see new features being released all the time while obvious bugs and shortcomings are not fixed.
It was a very big relief going back to a normal email client.
I still support Proton (i pay for Proton VPN) and hope they will succeed in their mission.
The biggest problem with Orion is the Firefox & Chrome extensions;
Many don't work properly, but you don't see any errors, so you have no idea what parts are working and aren't.
Like using a content blocker and "hoping for the best". It might work, or not.
That's one of the reasons i stopped using Orion...
Note that Zen Browser is (yet another) Firefox fork. Might as well just use Firefox, with better settings (like Arkenfox user.js, customized how you like it). Would be better security & privacy wise.
