Kind of ironic when you think about it - drawing such a strong conclusion about someone after reading what amounts to half a wikipedia article (if that) about them
I'm a software engineering manager with a bottom-up, collaborative style, focused on building and supporting resilient, empathetic, business-aware engineering teams who love what they do. I've worked in software since ~2011 and have worked with many tech stacks during that time- from PHP to Scala and Next.js to Rails. I've been fully remote since 2016 and have hired and managed globally remote team members at multiple companies.
While I've spent the majority of my career in venture-funded b2b SaaS, I'm highly-interested in working with bootstrapped companies who are hiring AI engineers to solve important problems. Bonus points if the use-case for AI is connected with the physical world in some way. I'm one of the folks who expect that artificial intelligence will continue to revolutionize our industry in many unexpected ways and I'm highly interested in working with a team of AI engineers who are breaking ground in the space.
Over the holidays I built a Rails application (I hadn't built with Rails in a while) that analyzes satellite imagery along US coastlines to visually identify potential boat anchorages using space imagery. It works by taking in geographic coordinates (geojson), fetching satellite images from Google Maps for the corresponding points, and using a fine-tuned machine learning model to classify areas that are likely suitable anchorages. I added a built-in interface for training (SFT) the ML with new data.
On the dev side, I generally prefer buying over building, readable over concise, fast over perfect, and empathy over all.
On the management side, my approach centers on 1:1s, transparent retros, and fostering a deep understanding of the business purpose behind the work we do. If this sounds like the type of culture that you have or wish to build, I'd love to hear from you and learn how I can support your mission and the team helping you accomplish it.
Whoa, great to see Yoeven's work here. I learned about JigsawStack when I applied for a role there and was super impressed with what he's built. We ended up having a call and he was able to tell me a bit more about what he's working on.
He is a friendly and super down-to-earth guy who has made some remarkably good progress on building a platform that just works. For instance, easily connecting a fine-tuned LLM that knows how to scrape content to a translation LLM and wrapping that up in a platform with a really good developer experience.
I'm a software developer / engineering manager with a bottom-up, collaborative style, focused on building and supporting resilient, empathetic, business-aware engineering teams who love what they do. I've worked in software since ~2011 and have worked hands-on with many tech stacks during that time- from PHP to Scala and Next.js to Rails. I've been fully remote since 2016 and have hired and managed globally remote team members at multiple companies.
I've worked both hands-on and as a manager and have excelled in both types of role. I'm open to either type or a mix of both depending on the needs of the team/business.

I'm a polyglot software engineer looking to get back into day-to-day programming after being in management for the last few years. I've worked in software since ~2011 and have worked with many tech stacks during that time- from PHP to Scala and Next.js to Rails. I've been fully remote since 2016 and have hired and managed and worked alongside globally remote team members at multiple companies. I've spent the majority of my career in venture-funded b2b SaaS and I'm familiar and comfortable working in a high-velocity company.

If this sounds like the type of culture that you have or wish to build, I'd love to hear from you and learn how I can support your mission and the team helping you accomplish it.
My family and I are currently located in the Orlando, FL area, but are actively looking to relocate to somewhere in Texas, elsewhere in Florida, or Tennessee, or we’re open to international locations as well.

While I've spent the majority of my career in venture-funded b2b SaaS, my goal now is to work at a company that's not venture-funded and whose product or service supports or interacts with the physical world in some way. Lawn maintenance crew payroll software, or industry-specific ERPs would be a couple of great examples of this.

I read WolfStreet.com daily. The author delves into these topics and provides plain-language analysis. If you're interested in economics and markets in the US, you'll likely enjoy his content.
I'm a business-minded software engineering leader with experience working in and leading at startups scaling from 0 -> $20MM/yr and building and managing teams to support rapid growth. If you have a general idea of where you're going and you need to quickly recruit, organize, or inspire an existing technical team to help you get there, I can help.
My approach is highly collaborative, and frequently has me working across multiple departments, leading initiatives with broad technical, UX, and business implications.
I'm available on a fractional or full-time basis, depending on the business needs.
Writing a dismissive comment like this goes against the HN spirit of curiosity and also comes comes across as a bit mean-spirited.
