Terminal.GUI v2 is very promising and a delight. But documentation was not 100% there last I used it this summer.

There was always this nagging doubt - is it buggy or don't I understand how to use it? In the end, I finished my little internal tool and was happy with it. Would try again.

Very "your job is to deliver code you know work".

AKA The Onion.

Replaces systemd - you had me at hello!

That may actually be underselling it. So far as I can follow, this is trying to replace more of the OS than systemd is, and coming from a different (although in some ways not wholly dissimilar) paradigm. It's like.. I dunno, building a smalltalk machine over a Linux kernel might replace systemd, but that's almost incidental to it rotating the entire universe 90°.

Can you still use the words "women", "gender" and "class"?

And that's Oregon... there are worse places, too.

Oregon has a huge political tension. Portland is solidly blue. The rest of the state is solidly red. In the 1920s, Oregon was one of the centers of Klan activity. Today it is a stronghold for the Proud Boys.

The Grand Ronde reservation is in rural Oregon, mostly in Polk County. This is where the event that I referenced took place. It is very strongly conservative, with a long racist history.

Well, the governor of Oregon was a Klansman in the 1920s.

Postscript is pretty neat IMHO and it’s Turing complete. I really appreciated my raytraced page finally coming out of that poor HP laser after an hour or so.

I once sent a Sierpinski's Triangle postscript program to a shared printer. It took 90 minutes, and pissed off everybody else trying to print.

One of the very first SVG documents I encountered was a port of the PS Tiger to SVG. It loaded a lot faster than the PostScript Tiger.

PostScript can emulate the ZMachine (Zork text adventures and all of infocom) with "zmachine.ps". Look it up at DDG/GG.

How does it do I/O?

A monad. It’s just a class of abstract Endor Moon or something. Probably you have to send all commands up to the current state to it. :)

Sounds almost like a fun crypto mining opportunity.

Yep. That's why bees and ants simply don't exist.

zooming out a bit , humans look a lot like ants

To be fair, there are numerous ways to misuse it. Depending on how and where you are using SQLite, you have to know things about WAL and syncing etc.

In aggregate, tough times make people malnourished, alcoholic, traumatized, lower IQ, apathetic, aggressive. In no particular order or combination.

Look at US during late 40s / 50s. Do you think your definition is valid for those times en masse? (apart from the fact that most of those markers slowly improved over time due to overall progress).

Same would be valid for western Europe, eastern part got fucked up by soviets pushing communism and related terror left and right.

> Do you think your definition is valid for those times en masse

Lead poisoning leading to lower IQs, alcoholism was definitely rampant (though less stigmatised at the time), traumatised from the war, aggressiveness towards spouses and each other (see: war trauma)

Yes, it absolutely was.
