They probably should have just eaten the AI non delivery instead of now having two major failures.

On_door_close()

They took away the mouse, then the keyboard, and eventually the modem. It wasn't about cost - it was the equivalent of taking away the PS5 controller when you have a younger teenager being disrespectful.

I wound up with backups, and eventually my own PC.

You just brought back a core memory. Mass netsplits followed by a few minutes of "wtf", and then some new yorkers who had bouncers not routing through the WTC jumping on channel to let us know what was going on.

I was, and still am, on the other side of the world and lost a few people I talked to every day during that event.

My early software and skills life happened around some late stages of BBS and IRC, and yes, #warez.

I met some absolutely wonderful people from online, and even got to spend some quality time with some very high end hardware that couldn't be gifted, but was effectively almost unlimited, and people with appropriate skills and compassion to match. My early career and schooling made no use of those skills, but once I found my jam a little later on that knowledge still proved to be incredibly important and put me leaps and bounds ahead of my peers, and it's been an amazing ride ever since.

Here in Australia theres a never ending steam of complaints about taxis managing to bill passengers extraordinary amounts. From taking a route that deliberately includes a highway leg thats expensive to correct (screws tourists), to demanding higher fares, to card skimming, to outright just not displaying the taxi licences so you cant complain and have no idea which driver was being creepy.

Uber at least has fixed rates from what was displayed and there are logs of which driver was doing dodgy stuff.

And ill take that reason every single day. I could spend days or more working out particular issues in C++, or I could use a much nicer to use glue language with a great ecosystem and a huge community driving it and get the same task done in minutes to hours.

Im not.

Move on with life and be happy. What we have is functional, easy to develop, and well supported.

My bitterness is the only thing that keeps me happy.

Its absolutely possible. Weve also had them unaware of github, and had them label Amazon S3 as a risk since it specifically wasn't Microsoft.

There is no bottom to the barrel, and incompetence and insensitivity can rise quite high in some cases.

On a few machines now ive had Podmans windows uninstaller fail to remove all its components and cause errors on start up due to postman not being found. Even manually removing leftover services and start up items didn't fix the issue. Its a constant source of annoyance.
