I've rented beamers with Sixt at LAX and O'Hare, the latter just a couple of weeks ago. I didn't have any issues connecting to bluetooth so that I could use CarPlay. Could it be inconsistencies in how their BMW fleet is set up?
I ususally set up the bluetooth connection before driving off the lot, just so I can get staff assistance if it doesn't work - not being able to connect to the car is enough for me to insist on a new vehicle if they're unable to fix it.
Bluetooth and carplay do indeed work as you need to be connected to the vehicle. I used those features too. The ConnectedDrive feature discussed here is when you install the BMW app on your phone and register the VIN number of the car to your personal BMW account, verified by tapping some buttons in the vehicle while linking, and "owning" the car in your BMW app. This gives access to things like remote location tracking, starting the car from anywhere to get the airco etc working.
n.b. Doing this in a rental car probably violates some of the terms and conditions one would have to agree to when linking the car, like "I promise this is _my_ car and/or I have permission from the owner to link it to my personal BMW account"...
Same, but on the train at the DC airport. I liked that they align their actions with their mission. Physical ads like this are perfect way to advertise a privacy tool, as their ads respect user privacy.
I've been using Wallabag for articles I want to deal with later, with the Frigoligo app on iOS for offline reading. For bookmarks, I've been using the Floccus extension with the Nextcloud Bookmarks app.
I'm missing the social aspect of bookmarks on del.icio.us though, so I'll check out Omnom and the other mentions in this thread of what people are using.
I'm pretty close to OP's age, so pretty much within what most people would called middle aged (if lucky). Sometimes I do feel like time is sort of running out, not in a dramatic mid life crisis sense, but as a realization that time's going by pretty fast now. Seeing the potential remaining time visualized like this refreshes my perspective on this a bit, and that there's still time to complete some tasks on the life bucket list.
Week numbers are very useful for static holiday periods like the kid's school fall vacation and winter vacation. In my area, they are always in week 8 and week 40, and as such it's easier to plan accordingly. And my summer vacation is usually weeks 28-30.
Just make sure to turn on week number in your calendar applications, then it might be more useful to you.
The queues are one thing, another is the terrible ventilation inside the devrooms. I ended up most of today listening to talks in the Janson auditorium, as it at least has breathable atmosphere.
This might be due to road standards where major roads and highways usually have road lights when it’s dark. Most of Oslo’s internal roads are lit up too, as it makes them safer in terms of traffic safety and crime suppression. But this does have a cost which became even more obvious with the wartime energy price spikes.
One option for getting coverage in metro tunnels may involve deploying several Base Tranciever Stations (BTS), usually in technical rooms connected to stations. These BTSes can be from different operators. Then they are connected hub and spoke with fiber to radiation cables that stretch through the tunnel up to around 2000-ish feet, perhaps even longer nowadays. The BTSs connect to the mobile operators through their Radio Access Network.
