Do you happen to have a link for that? It seems pretty counterintuitive given the state of modern PC hardware.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1392841 is the bugzilla bug to enable the feature by default.

https://simonhearne.com/2020/network-faster-than-cache/ has some discussion.

>The idea that opioids are addictive is a myth.

They have literal physical withdrawals. The body becomes dependent on them. What else would you call that?

Withdrawal from opioids is overrated. It’s unpleasant, but that’s it. Unlike alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal, which can literally kill you, opioid withdrawal is like a bad cold.

So, yes there’s adaptations, but it’s way overrated compared to the media hype.

Shouldn’t all three bear some fault? The big company for not proactively supporting their staff to report (e.g. benefits), the pilot for doing something ethically wrong, and the regulatory body for encouraging the broken system?

Benefits don’t help a pilot not wanting to lose the ability to fly.

Here you go: https://shieldgeo.com/maternity-and-paternity-leave-in-germa...

> In addition to maternity leave, there is the option for the mother or father to take extended parental leave for up to a total of 24 months, with a parental allowance of 300 to 1200 Euros (depending on salary), paid by the government for the initial 14 months.

My brother used this for his first child, so I’m quite certain it exists.

Interesting, thanks.

> depending on salary

I never understood why they make it scale. Apparently Australia has parental leave too but at the minimum wage.

So, remove the majority of dynamic websites from the internet, basically? I don’t see how that’s helpful. I get you’re (probably) being hyperbolic, but the fact remains that it’s a highly useful language for generating dynamic web content.

Wouldn’t having strong SEO incentive competition to buy ads? Of course it also incentives them to work on SEO, but the only way to ‘get above’ a top ranking site would be to buy an ad, no?

Increasing costs for your competition is a net win for you.

And Google

Depends on the industry, but if you can profit at lower prices you can force your competition to spend less on advertising. That’s bad for Google.

That makes sense. I meant increasing the ad buy spend of a firm's competitors helps Google

In that case wouldn’t it make sense to try to get your friends to use another group chat?

I get people love to use the iMessage groups, but every friend I have on Android create a WhatsApp group, etc. and it’s pretty trivial to use and maintain, especially with close friends.

> In that case wouldn’t it make sense to try to get your friends to use another group chat?

This greatly underestimates the power of habit and default choice.

I can tell you for sure that if I tried to mount such campaign among my (non-techie) friends, there would be a lot of pushback and annoyance.

But this doesn't seem at all relevant to market competition and antitrust laws. It's not much different than disagreements over which coffee shop your friends are going to meet at (maybe you're the only one that lives really far away from the group's most convenient location), or who gets invited to a group of friends' parties.

Wouldn’t it be easier to get each and every one of your friends to change their daily behaviour to suit a personal choice you made?

Erm, no, no it would not be.

Probably Signal.

I think you need to pick a better example. I don’t believe a CEO saying “diversity is important, but not our only goal” would be pilloried by either of the currently polarized sides, while one that said “diversity is the best” would, likely, be pilloried by one side.

Couldn’t you just search ‘clojure cortex’? As this isn’t actually clojure?

It also looks like the last release for the Clojure library was in 2017
