This little comic strip made me see the poem in a whole new light. Something I keep coming back to whenever I'm faced with a big choice :)

This really hit me in a way I haven't been hit by something in a long time. Thanks for sharing.

if like this sort of thing, then, o. henry's 'roads of destiny', is the sort of thing that you might like as well :)

Basically hapiness is mostly function of your physical body, not your live's events. And the end is death all the same.

So basically don't damage your body too much and you'll have all the happiness you could ever have being you. And even if you don't. Don't worry. It'll be over in few short decades anyways.

Wait, why is this comment being down-voted?

It's written in a respectful manner, cites a strong source, and is very much relevant to the link posted.

> The things churchill said and did were no different than what hitler said and did.

Most likely, this.

If these quotes are correct:

> He raged that it was their own fault for "breeding like rabbits". At other times, he said the plague was "merrily" culling the population.

Then the "said" part is accurate. The "did" part may be hyperbolic, but not enough to overpower an otherwise excellent post. It really does seem like people are just knee-jerk reacting to criticism of a popular figure.

This is one of the most helpful comments I've read on HN, thanks! :)

I have been using https://stackedit.io/ a lot for Markdown editing and have loved it's simple and straightforward preview interface.

For LaTeX, I've used https://www.overleaf.com/ till now.

From my initial interactions with this editor, it just might prove to be a single replacement for both the above sites!

This looks promising. Will try and go through the entire thing.

On a similar note about learning Erlang, can't stress how well written http://learnyousomeerlang.com/content is.

Really sets the standards of how tutorials to learn a new language should be.

I preferred Erlang Programming [1] to LYSE.

Check out the book that was created based on the tutorials: Learn you some Erlang for the greater good

Definitely, I shall!

I'm pretty sure the answer wouldn't have garnered so much attention had a normal person (not Elon's ex-wife) written it.

Probably not, because most of us don't know a self-made billionaire. But because she does, it gives her answer credibility.

It says a lot about her that she answered so gracefully about her ex though. That garners a great amount of respect from me. So many exes are just bitter and eager to stick the knife in. It's refreshing to hear someone say positive things about their ex.

Because then it would just be some random person's opinion.

The opinion is as generic as that of a random person. There's nothing in the answer which provides an actual insight into the making of a billionaire.

Maybe there are no insights. Maybe it is all a sum of the generic things she spoke of, and pure luck of having successful consecutive ventures.

But to put it simply, it's not that great of a Quora answer.

It's a generic answer because it's a stupid question.

It probably wouldn't have garnered as much attention, however, this appears to be a common sentiment of those largely considered rich and/or successful. It doesn't make the advice less valuable.

And you suppose it would be better if a penniless person wrote an article on how to get wealthy?

It's actually quite interesting to think about it. Considering Intel hitting 14nm with Broadwell, there's only a certain limit to which we can push things or make them smaller. There has to be a point of saturation with things. BUT that's where the interesting part will be. The new revolutions that spring up new manufacturing materials which can defy the limits of the current ones.

This was bound to happen. I'm sure everyone expected it to be even greater that 50. I'm hopeful that they'll continue to focus on the simplicity which happens to be their main USP.

IPO soon in the next couple of years?

Kickass stuff! Although if by chance you documented your way through out the app and could share it, it would make a pretty decent guide for people looking to go MEAN. And that would also add a lot of substance to the Technical Details section of the post.

Thanks for the comment! That's a good idea, I will continue developing the app and keep that in mind. Since I didn't really know what I was doing, I ended up rewriting things several times anyway so I guess as long as I kept re-documenting I would have been okay ha.
