Well, the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_Crisis_(2011%E2%80%93... definitely did change some things around. I currently would not recommend visiting Egypt, when there are so many safer and more pleasant options available.

As the article was a bit light on actionable info, I'm throwing my favourite review website in the ring. I completely trust it and therefore don't have to do my own testing, as it is often recommended on sites like budgetlightforum.com:

Not all forests are the same. Old growth forests have a lot more diversity than something cut down in the 1800s, so that would fall under "dramatically worse for insects" imho.

Of course not for all insects, but I would guess that GP didn't mean highly succesful species like ants, which seem to thrive pretty much everywhere. I recommend visiting an old growth forest if you can find one in your area, they're a completely different beast compared to the ones you might be used to. It's really worth it!

I always thought the American meme about Lüften / Stoßlüften was just about the fact that people like exotic names for normal behaviours. Are you telling me that there is a significant percentage of people in the US who don't fully open two or more windows to get the air completely exchanged about three times a day in the winter?

I know you have AC for the summer, where we use Lüften during the night and then close our exterior blinds. And that makes sense, as your summers are hotter in many areas and it doesn't get cool enough at night for our strategy to work consistently. But I have always assumed that everyone does Lüften in the winter, and that you guys just like the funny sounding word we use for it.

I run a CO2 monitor to let me know when to open the windows in the winter cause it's damn cold here but yeah: many Americans never open any windows.

Usually the houses are too poorly sealed to keep the air in anyways, so you get slow air replacement from the leaks.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolving_door_(politics) => huge potential for conflicts of interest. That's why you should avoid this sort of thing in most cases.

I remember reading (here's the trigger for some people to stop reading) Paul Krugman's writing about Greek politicians and the Brussels set: if the Greek leaders just follow what Brussels want, they can guarantee their spot in some cushy position afterwards, and what Brussels set (lobbied by German banks) wanted was austerity for Greeks in order to repay the loans the German banks gave out freely, knowing that because the country was in the Eurozone, the ECB will bail them out.

Meanwhile the socialist Syriza party were obviously former activists who were going to fight for the Greek people, and Brussels knew they won't be persuaded to follow the script...

Result is that Greece's economy has never been doing better, their budget produces a surplus and they can reimburse their debt.

> We get ill and stuff

Just out of curiosity: you do realise that illness is not specific to humans, but also occurs in animals, right?

Of course, yes -hell, even cats have their own AIDS; but what I meant was we get 'easily' ill. I mean, imagine we have to drink the water from a puddle?

Damn, both her Wikipedia article as well that of her as her "archenemy" Rose Pak are fascinating (even though I don't like either of them based on what I read).

I misread that as 'her "archenemy" Rosa Parks' and had some concerns for a second...

lygte-info.dk rates them quite highly iirc.

I just wanted to let you know that the reason you're being downvoted is probably the perceived condescension in your use of the Myers Briggs test (which is effectively just a horoscope for pseudo-intellectuals).

Don’t sweat it. I know these idiots cannot see my amusing point.

The funny thing is …

This is what defines an intellectual from a pseudo intellectual:

One searches for curious truths, and another takes others’ word for it.

And yes, I have spotted fnords, and lived to tell about it.

> And yes, I have spotted , and lived to tell about it.

Was this supposed to make sense?

I bought an aranet 4, it's quite eye opening how you sometimes get a lot of CO2 buildup without even noticing.

I mostly solve any issues with VOC by "Stosslueften", but if that's not enough because the air quality outside is too bad, a CR box is an effective, easy to build and almost perfectly silent design, especially if you do it with decent quality pc fans.

A CR box only removes particulates, not VOCs. To remove VOCs, you need a filter with many pounds of activated carbon.

Ah, my bad, I thought that everyone built CR boxes with carbon, but that's not the case. The standard design doesn't use carbon at all. Thanks for the correction.
