I support Wikipedia from the first day -- and this is true. I had to laugh! there is bias for certain.. of many kinds.

back in the day, bookstores specialized.. Barnes & Noble were a warehouse-sized super-commercial shop from the start; pushing vapid crap was certainly in that mix. Unfortunately, Amazon Books out-inventoried even the behemoth Barnes & Noble.. think Walmart for books. It was intentional.

you realize how ridiculous this is, in some ways, since a "master copy" of anything that is reproduced, is just like reproducing a machine-stamped master copy.. in the digital artifacts world, it is even more true

June 23, 2025 - US Federal Reserve Board announces that reputational risk will no longer be a component of examination programs in its supervision of banks

OK except there are +1 million non-profits.. so you enthusiastically characterize "many" .. what about the long tail? What about uniquely effective? A large number of economic jurisdictions worldwide have no such thing. Why the rush to paint all non-profits with a single brush?

As an American, I was fascinated to see an interview with an older Italian farm owner. She employed Sikhs in eastern Italy for farm labor. In the Italian language interview she explained like she was talking to a close friend, how actually the Sikhs eat their children back home, due to starvation... as if she was sharing a secret! (hint- this is wildly false and outrageous to say it)

In other words, I do not believe for one second that this farming operation was anything other than a sweatshop, with dangerous conditions and stolen pay. The look on the face of the farmer in the article adds no confidence that this is not the case. For those reading that do not believe that people work in these conditions, in the USA in 2025, then I suggest you do some homework.

You should consider trusting the legal system and the rights of the accused, rather than knowing nothing about a case and trusting the federal bureaucracy on nothing other vibes and gut feelings.

> The look on the face of the farmer in the article adds no confidence that this is not the case

You can’t actually tell anything at all about a person’s moral character from their facial expression.

That sounds a lot like "They're eating the cats! They're eating the dogs!". I know a lot of Sikh folks and they're pretty chill.

You literally invented an entire fantasy to justify your racism. Absolutely none of what you said is even slightly provable, nor mentioned even vaguely in the article.

absolutely a real interview, stunning in the racism of the farm owner, actually

I don’t care about the person you saw an interview with, you invented a fantasy about the person in the article. Stunning in your racism.

my neighbor said he recently plugged in his iPhone to a PC while logged in to his Google account in the browser, and all his iPhone contacts were imported into GMail contacts.. is this possible? the contacts are now in Google GMail, and he did not affirmatively consent at any stage, is the story.

I’m pretty sure that Apple blocks any exporting of contacts without consent, maybe he previously consented and it stored it, or he clicked ok without thinking. Even things that require consent can be engineered to make it easy to thoughtlessly agree

At this point FOSS address book on F-Droid has a way to store your contact that is NOT visible to other apps.

Wow can't believe this is still happening!

Twitter pull that shit very early on iOS before they had the permissions, all my contacts were uploaded to their server. Never ever trust that company again.

one of the original junior Sims C++ devs was an undergrad from Reed college.. he is now director of some kind for Overture Maps iir

this has carefully costumed role playing characters in the first second -- the title is misleading and/or "con"

no disagree and object -- it is misinformation to describe LLM progress blindly assigning human development. Tons of errant conclusions and implications attached as baggage, and just wrong.
