> Always take legislation like this seriously and hold your representatives responsible for it. Let them know that their political career in your constituency is finished for good if they support such moves

But it isn't. I've gone the route of writing my representatives but when most people support the measures or at least don't oppose them they can easily laugh in your face or outright lie to you, claiming that protests aren't banned when they are (e.g. covid times) and things like that.

Most people here probably called me some government/media pushed negative label just for protesting to uphold freedom/constitutional rights/human rights.

It's not that easy to advocate effectively once you realize gov/media funded propaganda permeates really well.

Authoritian through and through.

Go enjoy everything daddy gov tells you. If you claim it's an overreach you're a seditious agitator working for "the enemy (TM)"

This is such a disingenous comment.

Yes. They did attack their sources of income and blocked protestors from accessing THEIR money to stop them from protesting.

You minimizing it like "just a few accounts, just a few days" is not only false but also doesn't acknowledge the fact that it should NEVER Happen.

But hey, there's always the one saying that reality doesn't happen even when the government attacks from all angles as a coercion mechanism. What's the euphemism now? What's the handbook? "Free speech but not freedom of consequences"?

It's not false, the Emergencies Act was only invoked from February 14th 2022 to February 23rd 2022. That's 9 days. Between 180 and 219 accounts were frozen based on the sources I found. Please tell me which part is false.

You will not engage in wrongthink or else.

You will not dissent effectively against the government.

It's not confusing at all. It's the same trend we've been having for ages and that most people have cheered for because they were usually dunking on their political rivals, the "evil enemy (TM)" or "protecting the children/against covid misinformation", etc.

Only when people start recognising that was all bullshit and demand their freedom can we collectively fight back. Resist your impulses to go with the propaganda and call every dissenter a conspiracy theorist.

Recognize authoritarianism is extremely common and it happens in "democratic" countries which are absolutely shielded in bureocracy.

Good things are good and bad things are bad. It's not contradictory for someone to like a bill that says "if you try to convince the population vaccines are bad, your internet service should be terminated" and also dislike a bill that says "if we say so, your internet service should be terminated"

Unfortunately, it's become Bush-Obama-Biden-Trump era nonsense because it seems ingrained now.

Add all your other "western leaders" out there who also seem to love and push for wars fought by others and not their children or themselves.

You may have a family but how much time are you spending with them.

You know yourself but I think it's extremely unhealthy advice to give to people and usually hides a lot of inefficiency and misused hours.

Constraints breed creativity and efficiency. Do more with less and all that.

Have you done the exercise of "how can I produce the same value output in 80% of the time". The exact percentage doesn't matter, just doing the exercise to improve efficiency and have a more balanced approach. That also gives you space for actual crunch time whereas you seem to work in a perpetual state of crunch.

Is it real or is it performative? Are you taking care of health? Do you realize work is not everything to life and that you CAN have your cake and eat it too if you slightly balance it out.

Again, what you're doing might work for you but I'm trying to offer a slightly more nuanced take than what I consider it to be the "constant crunch" mode.

Busy doesn't mean value.

My cofounder and I do this usually about twice a month where we sit down and purposefully think about this at a macro and micro level.

> Is it real or is it performative? Are you taking care of health? Do you realize work is not everything to life and that you CAN have your cake and eat it too if you slightly balance it out.

It's real! My health is not being taken care of, but that is the "pick 3" axis that I'm compromising on in the short term.

> Is it real or is it performative? Are you taking care of health? Do you realize work is not everything to life and that you CAN have your cake and eat it too if you slightly balance it out.

I think this is not the right way to think about it. People have different preferences. The difference between having 4m in the bank and 8m in the bank at the end of my career is very marginal to me. I would much rather put myself in the position to work towards a tail event.

Meh. I just don't believe that it is not performative and about "the hour metric" when on second read, I read the phrase about the really unsustainable thint being when you reached the "140 hours". In the last few WEEKS, plural.

4 hours sleep. Every day. And working non stop.

You can pretend all you want but for all that is holy stop giving this bullshit snake oil advice.

You don't have a life and neglect your family. They better enjoy those extra millions and buy themselves a father and a husband.

If you know English danish/swedish/Norwegian is absolutely one of the easiest languages to learn.

People do underestimate how much a good teacher and putting in the work can make a difference. Money well invested if you actually NEED to use the language and will have opportunity to.

I'd say Farsi is too. I'm finding it easier than Spanish much to my surprise.

Your whole post is war propaganda to justify how "the enemy" needs to be blocked and attacked.

Analyze who have perpetrated most invasions ("military operations" if you like euphemisms) in the last 40 years and you'll be surprised who you'd need to "block" given your logic.

Of course, you won't block yourself because it's convenient to be a jingoist when it doesn't affect you.

> Analyze who have perpetrated most invasions ("military operations" if you like euphemisms) in the last 40 years and you'll be surprised who you'd need to "block" given your logic.

I have. It was Russia. They are indeed blocked and I am not surprised.

> Of course, you won't block yourself because it's convenient to be a jingoist when it doesn't affect you.

No, I won't block myself because my little country has not invaded anyone. If you are assuming I am an American, I am not.

Lol. That's a bold faced lie. Not even a biased llm will support that.

The EU (and adjacent countries like UK or Schengen countries) loves surveillance and control of their citizens' speech (except if they're partbof their wealthy elite, in which case, there's nothing to see here).

Claiming control of citizens speech when you have a president literally censoring your media is kind of ridiculous.

The claim free speech is under threat in Europe just demonstrates you are easily led by rabble rousers.
