I feel like a lot of the issue is because the new operating systems are a lot more power intensive and Google play services is always doing so much in the background, you need a super heavy battery just to get an all day battery life whereas older phones could get the same battery life with a lighter/smaller battery and less OS bloat.
Agreed. I honestly contemplated the Fairphone when my Samsung s7 finally died in April, but I ended up just getting the newest Samsung because it was smaller and most familiar to me. But oh how I miss the SD card slot.
Until we fully understand all of the processes in morphogenesis and hormone changes in prenatal development (hint: we don't), I see this pursuit as reckless at best. Furthermore why are we pursuing this in people when the "artificial womb" that happened with sheep was shaky?

A diversified profile needs to exist to meet fluctuating demand. I think energy storage or some long term reliance on natural gas is baked in to any sort of emergency response, because nuclear is harder to adjust willy nilly. But yeah it's hard to ignore the largest low-carbon baseload power source
There is a possible way to offset this, an energy consumer of last resort, someone who's paying you more than nothing but doesn't compete with other demands. Bitcoin mining is ideal because it can be deployed anywhere at any scale, it can ramp up to soak up excess power off peak, and ramp down to provide it back to the grid. Since mining is a globally decentralized competition for cheap energy, its unlikely it would ever price out other uses of energy, which could be limited by contract anyways.
Yes, the same way America is outsourcing most of our carbon emissions whenever we claim to be reducing them, it is tiring. However the fact that they continue to also poison us directly by evading or influencing environmental regulations and lie about that stuff too - I wish I could see a beatdown.
They have now shifted to saying that they're part of the clean energy revolution or something of that sort. I started seeing commercials with this rhetoric a few years ago, but I see even more now.
Made this mistake before. I was downloading mods for a game where all the mods were from angelfire sites that are now dead. People often didn't even credit themselves in the readme.txt because the game community was very small, and a lot of the people playing it were old and are deceased now, relying on other dead link sites to work. I wish I had done a better job tracking where I got all my files so I could share them and keep those people's legacy alive. Several of the sites were archived on archive.org wayback machine, but unfortunately all the zip files linked on there download as empty files. It's probably my biggest computer-related regret.
