I would rather pay for 4.5 by the query.

Why would I want Alexa+ if I have ChatGPT? Why isn't Alexa+ already a part of the Amazon Echo? None of this makes any sense.

> Why would I want Alexa+ if I have ChatGPT?

Presumably, because you already own/use an Alexa.

> Why isn't Alexa+ already a part of the Amazon Echo?

Because it isn't out yet?

Most people using Alexa heavily probably already have Prime.

Just convenience - maybe you don't have your phone in your hand.

Why do you use Alexa to turn the lights on ?!

People using Alexa are more likely to be tech savvy early adopters, but still I wonder how many of them do actually have an AI chat app on their phone? It'll be interesting to see how grandma reacts to Alexa+ if this is her first exposure to AI !

I'm intrigued. We should think about this more.

When I see something I don't understand I use AI to help me understand it.

How about NO. Fuck off.

I think I'm in love.

Insurance needs to be not-for-profit or a government enterprise. Physical projects and infrastructure should not be started until risk is assessed. Speculators and go-go finance has ought to be constrained. As for myself, I am choosing alternative ways to plan, finance, build, and manage infrastructure project. The current systems is a non-starter for most people under 50.

> Insurance needs to be not-for-profit or a government enterprise.

There are many examples of this in the insurer of last resort, which are non-profit or government insurance when the private insurance can no longer cover.

Insurers of last resort have the same issues with denying claims and not paying out like the private insurers. If you read the OP article, the only people asking for not-for-profit or government insurance are basically asking for infinite money, which is both a non-starter and impossible.

What really should be done is private insurers raising premiums to match risk. This may mean some consumers will be priced out of insurance policies.

>This may mean some consumers will be priced out of insurance policies.

It will also further incentivize innovation in safety features.

Politically speaking it easily becomes untenable. (Even if, the conversation could lead to better solutions.)

Existing homeowners could easily get excluded from insurance, and/or be 'locked-in' on their home due to inability to sell it vs cost to make it salable.

There are examples even from the CA fires of properly designed and landscaped houses doing very very well amidst structures now practically uncrecognizable in original form. Most of the tech is there, but attempts to force it would have n-order effects leading to the political unpopularity.

Humans talk to people. It's about building a relationship.

Email also consists of talking to a human, just fyi.

And the engineering takes their crude tools striking inanimate matter while the mathematician and the physics argue over the nature of reality.

I believe these efforts are very important. If we want this stuff to be practical we are going to have to work on efficiency. Price efficiency is good. Power and compute efficiency would be better.

I have been playing with llama.cpp to run interference on conventional cpus. No conclusions but it's interesting. I need to look at llamafile next.
