That’s exactly what we are still doing in our bootstrapped SaaS tool! Using asp.net mvc though, not web forms.

Google Search Console is a great source to help you build on this technique. It’s the most reliable source of data on what your site is appearing in the search results for - even if it doesn’t get a click. You’ll often find your site appearing for queries that you haven’t directly addressed yet with content. Create an article that does address that query or question - and get more traffic. My tool https://seotesting.com works off GSC data and has some predefined reports that help you find these types of queries - please give it a try.

You could almost do with a ‘how safe you felt’ rating for each road. Would obviously take a while to build up the data.

There’s actually some science behind procrastination and the steps you can do to beat it: http://nickswan.net/procrastination/ These are my notes from Tim Pychyl’s lecture that was posted on here a few months ago. Link to the YouTube video included in my blog posts. It’s a really good watch.

> Ask myself : What negative emotions do I have associated with project or task x,y,z?

That's a valuable tip. Drilling down to what stresses you out and finding a way to integrate that into self is central to overcoming procrastination.

I have been working on https://SEOTesting.com and released it on Friday. It’s a tool to help run SEO Tests to see whether your page and site changes are improving your rankings in Google. I’ve decided to make it free for the next 3(+) months while Corona Virus is going on as it’s one of the ways I can help so many people and businesses struggling with the impact.

What books would you recommend? Parent to 3 young kids and haven’t read any books on parenting or raising kids yet. As much worries about making a bad choice as well as a good one (in book choice that is!) that would lead to teaching the wrong stuff and habits

I think broadly, the challenge with parenting books is that they sometimes put forth a particular philosophy or approach (some are more neutral and inclusive than others). So, I think it really depends what you are looking for, what your parenting style is, and the ages of your kids.

And if you are looking for advice, context is really important.

To directly answer though - my favorite parenting book is The Gardner and The Carpenter by Alison Gopnik

And, the parenting books by Emily Oster (Crib Sheet and Expecting Better - the latter is about pregnancy and the first early childhood).

The first thing I would say is to resist typing your kids as xyz. I think everyone is genuinely afraid / hyper vigilant of kids who are “on the spectrum.” (As an example)... don’t give your kid a label. Second advice would be don’t evaluate your kids without evaluating yourself. Your kids are a reflection of you. As for books, I can’t say there’s a complete book that I can recommend. At best you find snippets here and there that provide ideas. The best thing we’ve done is connect with a psychologist. The kids don’t see her, actually don’t even know she exists.

Simplicity Parenting is an easy and amazing read. The Audiobook is pretty good as well. :)

I could listen to Tim Pychyl lecture all day! Thanks for bringing his work up.

Are you looking for new players?

If you can find it, MicroMen is a really good watch you’ll all enjoy (this is just a link to the trailer) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fGiGrf2YyZE

I have been running https://www.sanitycheck.io - an SEO tool. I built it originally to help me with my own SEO consulting work, but it has grown from being a side project to my main source of income now. Literally just this month it has reached the point of being able to support me full time. It has taken 3 years to get to this point.

It's just me - I have made use of the odd contractor for website design and copy. Upon starting the side project I wanted to see how large I could grow a business as a single person. It has been fun, but I also miss the team mate side of things such as brainstorming solutions and talking through problems.

Had a look at your site, and requested access, as I think it would be useful.

That said, I'm not super clear on what it does. The landing pages could really benefit from listing a few specific features, and listing the business outcome that results from them.

I get that it does automated page speed testing (is this different from kingdom). Other than that, the main thing I'm aware that it does it "improved google search console reports".

But what does that do? Listing some specific report types and the resulting business outcomes would really help. (e.g. saved time on task X, increased ranking on page Y, more revenue from a higher CTR on product Z, I dunno)

Thanks - great feedback. Always trying to improve the home and feature pages and I do agree on your points. Have considered getting an explainer video created.

I enjoy listening to your podcast: http://www.britstrapped.com

Though, if I listen for too long the voice in my head begins speaking in a British accent!

Congrats on getting to full time.
