I think this is from the Old Farmer's Almanac

This is the one my mind went to, mostly because that cover is so familiar. Granted, I never invested much time in either but was always glad they existed.

I thought it was a widely used and accepted idiom?

Not only idiomatic, it is part of the accepted definition of 'only' in Websters and OED.

It is perfectly acceptable to use only to refer to a select group.

I first heard of them as a card in Magic The Gathering!

Haha me too. Still remember the card graphic also.

Am I wrong or does it just look like a funeral home posted this for her? Likely filled in a few data points as requested?

NOPE. Linda’s personal words.

Good for them! They bucked plenty of the "rules of magic", but no doubt inspired another generation somewhere. I hope the craft never dies.

What does 'bucked' mean in this context?

Like a ‘bucking bronco,’ a horse kicking high and trying to throw off its rider - you ‘buck’ something to get it off of you, to get it off your back, to shake it off, to get out from under it. You might also see it in ‘bucking a trend.’

So it means “to act against” / “to escape from” the rules.

>rectal car center

Known nickname or typo?

Definitely phone autocorrect issue. I'm gonna leave it though

How often do you type "rectal" for that to become an autocorrect default for you??

If you are over 50, and serious about not getting colon cancer, maybe a little bit more than one would expect.

I use Google keyboard without customized auto correct.

It really likes to change random words to inappropriate things.

But I guess that's the people who are typing on phones a lot are typing about.

OP is a urologist

Otherwise known by its popular name “Cloaca-Rent—A-Car”

Or both :-D

Very cool! The book they mention looks pretty interesting:

I'll choose your comment to agree. I was a pirate in the 90s and early 00s, even though it took forever - it was "free"! Several years ago I was guilty of calling people out by saying that the real reason they pirated things is because they simply didn't want to pay. Fast forward to now and I can afford several services but it is just getting out of hand. My less tech-savvy family will hear about a show or movie and I have to google where the hell it is even available, and are we already subscribed to that service. Then I had a friend setup the whole AAR suite, and it has been a breath of fresh air. I'm not sure what the answer is but I am just about done having money extracted from me every month...

I was surprised to hear the name Palantir being thrown around where I work (manufacturing company) and I looked it up and they have something called 'Foundry' for shop floors. Reading the other comments here plus seeing that makes me just see them as another consulting company that wants to get its claws in you and then actually start building the things they advertise at an incredibly high price. They have some skills and want to just get into business wherever there is a business. The demo was certainly slick but very short on specifics, and the sales people seemed top notch (you know the type).
