Most crypto projects are craps.

But as someone living in China, where there is strict foreign currency regulattion, I have say crypto currency is one of the best investions in the last 15 years.

An insightful prediction from Zhihu, which is Quora for China:

https://www.zhihu.com/question/517618431/answer/2356205623

This post is from 2022.02.20. It says that Chinese airlines have showed terrible security risks since COVID, because COVID creates great losses for airline industry. At the end of the post, it says that deadly accidenty is abound to happen.

Last air crash from Chinese airlines was 2010.

The crashed site is not far away from my hometown. RIP.

Translation based on screenshot: https://i.redd.it/vlj0wyw9apo81.jpg

The pandemic changed everything for the airline industry, which went into recession for two years. Pilots' incomes went down 10% to 40%, so did flight attendants' incomes, and losses were widen.

Last year, one of the "big three" airlines[1] recovered 100MMs RMB of revenue through selling pilots. Yep, selling pilots in stock, literally asking them to find jobs elsewhere. The airline industry is in a mess now, but the public doesn't know.

Young pilots complaining that they won't be able to make their mortgage payments; Low morale in the industry. Much higher attrition rates. What do they all mean for an industry that relies on safety?

1. A Qingdao Airlines aircraft ran over a ground crew staff [2]

2. Runway excursion for a China Eastern aircraft in ZLYL [3]

3. Landing gear pins were left not removed on a Lucky Air aircraft (subsidiary of Hainan Airlines) [4]

4. Cracked windshield on a Juneyao Air aircraft [5]

Those all happened within a year. Chinese civil aviation has never had a safety track record as bad as this. People in the industry feel very bad for such shameful moment.

But what would happen next? No idea. Everyone is waiting for that flight with the unlucky ones.

Wow that was fast. Can you speculate who is responsible for this? Internal compliance teams or were they served a “takedown notice” of some kind?

content deletion could be a result of internal compliance team, or direct command from government.

> In entrepreneurship, these are cardinal sins. because of limited resources, startups fail when their bets aren't concentrated. startups also fail when prematurely optimizing costs because innovation is inherently wasteful.

As a founder who strugglews with concentration, I found that your insight is gold.

Do you still have contact with VC in China now? Is it still like this?

As a (funded) foreigner in China I'd say it's really difficult for outsiders. However, if you are a so-called "haigui" (海龟) or overseas returnee Chinese, then obtaining funding and government support appears to be much easier. The whole HK thing hasn't helped.

I'm actually surprised to see funded foreigner in China. Basically it depends on how many connections you have, the more the easier. But I remember after the year 2016/2017 the funding starts to die down quite a bit comparing to previous years.

Thanks :)

Thanks :)

Thanks NicoJuicy,

I just finish setting up CDN a few minutes ago. And my bandwith is 2M now.

No problem.

Have you found the bottleneck and has the experience improved?

I don't know the specifics of your app. But minimizing assets could also reduce bandwidth, it's mostly done by default. So that's what's why i didn't mention it before.

I haven't started profiling yet.

According to my cloud server's monitor, there is a big chance that the slowness is due to bandwith too crowded. I want to see if there is more slowness report or if I can experience slowness again, before I spend time to learn profiling.

But I guess sooner or later I'll have to do that. Now that I know what is in my armory, I feel more at peace :)

Monitoring is part of the toolset ;)

Perhaps it's a good time to mention that I've implemented health checks for a lot of applications.

It returns healthy when everything is okay ( eg. Select 1; on the db) and unhealthy when something is off ( eg. Hard drive 80% occupied, CPU at 80% or memory at 85% ) and returns failure when....

If could be just a library in nodejs and adding an endpoint.

Thanks.

I have never profiled my app before. Time to learn new skills :)

Thanks sir :)

Thanks Creatornator.

My database is mongodb and I use Mongoose as ORM. My crud operation is quite simple, therefore I doubt ORM causes the performance. But like you said, I need profiling.
