Thanks very much, glad you like it.

Good catch, thanks.

Good question – one of our main aims with LoseProof is to keep your personal information secure (phone number, email address, home address etc).

Although a lot of items get lost relatively close to home, you're right – we're looking at extending the service in the future to offer the option of return postage.

Glad we've inspired you :)

Loseproof is really geared toward people who want an out of the box solution – easy to signup, easy to protect your stuff & more secure (it's anonymous).

We'd also love to know where you can get stickers printed at that price... we might need to change supplier!

Sure, I get that. Have you thought about approaching businesses? My organisation has about circa 100 BlackBerry devices in circulation, none of which have any kind of 'if lost' marker on them...

I prototyped something exactly like this a couple of years ago but I really struggled with converting human readable times (I'm not a programmer).

Looks great! Subscribed.

Heh, thanks! It's definitely a challenge, and a work in progress. But it's coming along!

https://loseproof.com - a little side-project we launched a couple of weeks ago.

It's a low-cost, secure and simple way to protect things that are important to you.

We've started with stickers for now, but are looking to offer item-specific protection soon e.g. keyrings, luggage tags and pet tags. The concept is well-founded but, until now, has been really poorly executed.

Yep, but Tile costs $20 a piece. LoseProof is much simpler, cheaper & allows people to protect items of low physical value, but high personal worth – forever :)

Wow, impressive! Will be interested to see how things progress.

How do you mean?

I have username/password/yubikey combination to log into LastPass. On my Android phone though, I only need my username/password to access LastPass.

The trust lies with LastPass being able to uniquely identify my device as mine, and not someone spoofing me.

Yubikey is soley used from PC where I can plug in the yubikey. I could also have trusted computers, but I prefer to keep trusted devices to a minimum.

Think client-side certificate or OAuth token.

Yep, same here. Recently used https://bitbargain.co.uk (no affiliation at all) to get myself a couple though, and was surprised just how simple it was.

bitbargain certainly seems to be a step in the right direction. I guess being an escrow service allows them to skip a lot of the legal work involved in setting up an exchange.

Are their prices set very much higher than the 'going rate' for bitcoins?

Certainly seems to be.

I believe most sellers set their asking price according to the MtGox latest, or just under that figure.

Thanks, glad you found it interesting!
