It's problematic. Over time, companies that abuse opt-outs and consent preferences likely will need to be punished via a combination of regulatory fines, the marketplace taking business from them, and media shaming. We're deploying tools and technology to help audit and hold accountable such entities but I expect it's a long road ahead.
