https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y2uGlHT4iU Chinese culture is to blame. Try and stop boiling dogs alive, beating them with clubs, burning them alive with torches, and other torture. Also stop mass consumption of wild bushmeat and maybe all these zoonotic diseases will stop emerging in China.

Will this leaked data be used by the IRS in the thot audit?

He worked with the YC co-founder?

Where can I download the database to see if any of my own information has been pwnd?

Amazon pays taxes, not sure how anybody still believes this piece of misinformation. You do realize it is Congress who creates the tax rules to begin with, so if anyone is at fault for the tax 'loop holes' these companies leverage, it's corrupt legislators.

"In 2017, Amazon paid close to $1 billion in income tax. In 2018, the amount jumped to $1.18 billion, accounting for local, state, and international taxes."

Your quote glaringly leaves out federal....

It leaves it out because it isn't relevant. Amazon pays no federal tax (or close to none anyway) but it pays a shitload in other taxes.

Amazon reinvests revenue into the business which is discussed tons on this site. It also has the effect of eliminating certain types of taxes... and massively increasing taxes in other areas (like sales, use, B&O, payroll, etc...). Somehow I don't see discussion of how payroll tax at Amazon is exploding, though.

why is this on HN?

Because it's interesting. Please see https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html.

Interesting historical material is always welcome on Hacker News. It's true that this story includes the words "Nazi" and "Gestapo" in its title; but not all such titles point to uninteresting flamebait, only most of them. Here we're interested in the exceptions to things.

"not all such titles point to uninteresting flamebait, only most of them"

Talking about flamebait...

I meant it more as a wry aside to keep the readers of tedious moderation comments mildly entertained, but you're right: it's awfully hard to do that and not cross over into being inflammatory to some readers.

It's pointless to ask that question (in any forum really), unless you love downvotes. If you want to contribute something, post about why think it shouldn't be, with references to the HN guidelines that you think backs up your case.

Same answer about that one, actually: it's much more interesting than most articles with that theme. On HN we judge things article by article. That's the only way to optimize for curiosity.

Does Facebook have the same amount of concern for massive "Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior" campaigns originating from Israel/JIDF and US Intelligence Agencies that dwarf the Russian ones pointed out in this post?

I'm pretty sure we can have both...

Not if people keep voting to cut funding to public services. If people see libraries as value-less book warehouses, they're going to be voted out of existence.

Good job antirez, do not give into ideologically possessed control freaks and busybodies that actively seek out offense in everything. You can never fully satisfy them so don't even bother trying. They do not care about the 'morality' of the master/slave language here, but merely use it as a tool to control behavior of others and exert unearned power over your project. It's a pathetic power play, and nothing more.
