Well if Kent said it, now I'm paying attention

This took me so far back! The university computer lab I worked in back the day used to Doom in order to "test" the workstation's (linux and windows) networking.

So much geeky expression. Something was definitely lost when we traded in our individual sites for social media profiles

I'm proud of myself for reading the article to the end without distraction. I have been news free since the 2020 US election results were broadcast so I agree that a news diet is an immense boost for productivity. Why worry about things you can't really change. If it's important enough, trust me, you'll find out about it. I also use screen time to limit social media apps, but they are truly the crack cocaine of the the 21st century.

This is blade runner. I can finally have a blade runner interface of my SF dreams. Thank you

Cities without a happy working class is either a resort or a plantation.

So Ohio is a new center but still in the US Region?

The US is not a region. US East (Northern Virginia) is one region, and US East (Ohio) is another region. There are also other US regions, like US West (Oregon) and US West (Northern California).

If there's confusion about the concept of regions, it seems to be coming from Amazon themselves. They couldn't just call it the Ohio region?

Is that really an issue? Sometimes I get the number suffixes confused (like us-west-1 and us-west-2). Additionally, would you refer to the Sydney region or the New South Wales region?

For people from outside of North America, "us-east-2" is far more informative than "Ohio".

Very cool, makes me want to fire up my old SGI O2 :)

Me too buddy. I fear it and my ol' Octane were both casualties of a house move a couple of years ago, but I've decided to at least go looking through storage to see if I can find 'em. If nothing else, they are probably still fine personal servers – although the electric bill might not be worth it. :o)

Executives love animations. It looks like you can turn them off but trust me, after years of doing presentations in front of "the suits", it'll be worth leaving it in.
