The last time I was running a cluster it was 2014-2015 and it was not too bad to get up and running, but it felt so heavy handed for what it was. The zookeeper requirement was frustrating. The fact that consumers needed to maintain offset state was frustrating (although... understandable). For the right use case I suppose it is 100% worthwhile but more often than not I have seen it used in places where other tools would be more appropriate.
They've made Zookeeper optional now, although they're being understandably conservative about that (e.g. only declared it production-ready a year or two ago).
I hate those graphs. You can manipulate the axes on any graph to make it look like the two variables closely match each other and increase at the same rate
Yep. Coming from someone who has lost a lot of weight and got into the best shape of my life using CICO, there is no other explanation. Of course food quality matters a lot because you won’t feel as hungry. I’d argue even exercise makes you less hungry as a whole. Of course there are probably chemicals in our environment that are making us fatter, but it's definitely not a silver bullet, maybe responsible for 10-20lbs of excess fat if even that.
Sigh, why do his qualifications matter… You should be asking if his argument is sound and backed by evidence instead. People with PhDs have been wrong many times in the past.
Half his arguments are bad. Like the argument against the correlation between BMI and altitude level? “Here’s a study that was poorly done. Because it was poorly done, it cannot be caused from lower oxygen levels.”
i disagree, but its worth noting that his main tenants seem sensible and i agree with those, its mostly around sleeping, exercising and stuff we all know. Its the 100 supplements a day periodically throughout the day which i think is untenable longterm.
and again, if the guy has a history of unhealthy min/maxing his life, seems like another endeavour to do so is a mistake imo.
