Venezuela is a democracy.

Venezuela was democracy. Indeed, Chavez was elected democratically. It eroded. The institutions were weakened. It is now an authoritarian regime, willing to stay in power no matter the costs.

"""""democracy""""" just like Bolivia is a democracy. In reality it's not.

Every democracy has varying levels of efficacy. The government there may be authoritarian but its not a dictatorship.

Bolshevism (Russia/USSR) was "democratic" officially, with The Party deciding what options were available for voting on.

It's not "democracy" when the people can't opt for what those in power don't want.

What you are describing is a problem in all representative democracies.

At this point it is probably a democracy in name only.
