Two things I haven't seen ITT yet:

1. After you tell me what you're going to talk about, tell me why I should be listening to _you_. Why are you an authority on this topic? Unless you're famous, I don't know you.

2. The talk should contain 50% or less of your knowledge on the topic. You want to keep some info "in your back pocket" to ad lib with.

Interesting. I never do this, and probably never will. My viewpoint is that you've already made the decision to attend the talk, so me spending time reciting my bio is just redundant and a waste of time.
