Telegram is a QT app, btw. Still can take quite a bit of RAM, but much less than, say, Signal or Slack.


Most of the RAM usage when it comes to Telegram (and other IMs I guess) is media autodownload. Once you turn it off - the problem is solved (same for the battery life on mobile)
