Twitch censors live Metallica concert with dorkiest music imaginable (avclub.com)

I'm sure Metallica doesn't really care, but it's ironic given that a large part of the mess we're in today (with the large platforms fearing copyrighted works showing up for 1/10th of a second) stems directly from Metallica.

I did however see a video by Tom Scott recently about how the copyright system is broken; and it's not the platforms fault.

Oh man, this is glorious. The obscenely rich fuckwits that led the charge against Napster getting censored by the effects of their own actions.

Obscenely poor compared to the ones doing the censoring, however (Twitch aka Amazon).

Combined net worth of Metallica members is almost $1B (, so it's basically "billionaires at war" case. No reason to root for them as underdogs.

Yikes, Bezos alone completely dwarfs that number. Not to mention the actual power Amazon has that they don't.

Right... so the reality is, they probably feel like the myriad Napster users they sued, a little guy getting trod on by the big gorilla in the room... which is delicious in its irony.

I mean... they will probably care for about five minutes then head back to their no doubt richly textured, varied, and stimulating lives. Not the most satisfying gotcha situation

They’re crying all the way to the bank.

I watched this live on twitch, and didn't have any disruption to the audio stream.

My understanding is it happened only to twitch's own restream, which was on the twitch homepage.

The article notes

> (You can see it for yourself on Twitch’s broadcast of the event; the Metallica stuff starts at roughly the 1:10:00 mark.)

But sadly, you can't.
