Ask HN: New Alternatives to Vagrant?

I think it's safe to say that Docker has since won the battle for devops mindshare, but there are still niches where that is not an option, particularly if you don't want to target Linux. So what else is there...?



Docker has won the “what buzzword technology that is misunderstood and misused up the wazoo” competition without a doubt.

Vagrant works just fine for those of us who don’t just drink the flavour of the week Kool aid and want to get shit done.


I use Vagrant everyday. Sometimes we even run docker containers inside a Vagrant vm.


Vagrant still is useful in many cases, for example when you want to easily create a virtual machine.
