Wow, I need to get a second cup of coffee: from the title I thought the article was about the Slime Emacs interface for Lisp languages.
Then I read the article and liked it. When I was a small child I had a very good microscope and happily wasted time looking at sludge, pond water, etc.
I was intrigued by the weird-sounding title and found myself pleasantly surprised the article was a fascinating read, accompanied by beautiful pictures.
Coincidentally (or perhaps not) there is a song by Death Metal band Morbid Angel titled "Where The Slime Live", which I suspect might actually be about slime mold.
This kind of fascinating article was what made old reader's digest at the home library so cool when I was 10.
So far, the submissions from Orion Magazine here have evoked the same feelings.
