Given that Go's original raison d'etre was Internet-facing services, the choice for guaranteed linear time execution makes sense as a default.



That ... isn't really true at all. Go's original raison was logs processing.


I'd be interested in reading more about that. Do you have a reference?


I think they're referring to Rob Pike's Sawzall language. However, I wouldn't call Go a descendant of it.
