Depends on what type of equality you are referring to. I see equality as everyone have equal chances of succeeding...equal opportunity and not necessarily equal outcome. If you push equality as equal outcome...then yes the person who is "advantaged" because they did better (maybe worked harder or had a better idea) will feel like it harms them to force equal outcomes.
