I think the list is kinda biased. Among the 11 heroes featured so far, 5 are females. This almost certainly means that the list is manipulated for "representation", instead of sticking to the contributions people have made.
IMO, among the females in the list, only Grace Hopper and Ada Lovelace are clearly good choices. There's no way that Anita Borg and Lynn Conway are of the same caliber as Turing and Dijkstra.
Also, among the men, I think Steve Wilhite isn't really a good choice. The guys who came up with LZW compression probably deserve it more.
That is one way of looking at it, but it is not a ranked nor chronological list. The amount of people that belong in the newsletter is vast and the newsletter will eventually cover most of them, in due time. Steve Wilhite’s issue came our shortly after his passing, it felt like a timely release.
