The original 1MB came up a few years ago just as I was looking for a place to build and host some js-based tools. The editor and file manager were great -- so easy to use that I forgot to make backups until after 1MB suddenly decided to delete all my work a year later, in violation of an earlier promise (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19772843).
Mea culpa. I'm using Google and Oracle free tier with Github now.
Your work wasn’t deleted. 1MB temporarily disabled free sites while I handled some personal family stuff (my mom was dying from cancer - 1MB is a one person team) - I couldn’t focus on all the spam and needed to protect the integrity of the platform. I’ve since added way better anti-spam measures and re-enabled free sites. I apologize that I damaged your trust but I hope you’ll consider coming back - your data is still waiting.
I am thrilled to hear the content is still there. Of all things I missed, I drafted most of my own wedding website through 1mb. What I didn't get a chance to say back in 2019: I really enjoyed using your service--it was one of just a few platforms that delighted me and made my happy. I wish you the very best, and thank you for building this.
Thank you for your kind words. I wish you all the best also! If you haven’t gotten the chance check out 1MB’s latest features: you’ve probably missed out on the new blogging functionality and AI functionality. Thank you for choosing 1MB for something as intimate as drafting your wedding website in the past. That means a lot to me I hope to regain your trust in time and see you back on 1MB.
What is cool or special about this?
There is not a lot of information to be had.
This is expensive compared with standard shared hosting provider
(or Netlify if your static)
> ""The only IDE that saves and syncs your code in the cloud""
That feels wrong?
Plenty of other IDEs do that.
What separates this from them?
Ok I can blog. Good.
I can also use a program to write code in my iPad
do I need to code my own blog?
What language?
>""With 1MB Ghostwriter you can kiss writer's block goodbye! Harness the power >of advanced artificial intelligence to help yourself easily compose blog posts. >1MB Ghostwriter will be able to help you code soon also - stay tuned.""
Well then I am going to figure out how to block anything served by this
company.
1. 1MB is priced fairly for the market the product is in and the features offered.
2. I’m not sure about the current landscape but 1MB has offered this functionality for years. It’s really cool and you should check it out. It’s free to get started and no credit card is required.
3. You don’t need to code your own blog. There’s a “one-click” install button for a blogging template, and an intuitive blog post editor.
4. Why exactly do you want to block everything served by my company? Did I do something? Is this in regards to 1MB Ghostwriter? Many platforms are stepping into AI.
