The turkey was adopted in Turkey and from Turkey to Europe.


I think this is mostly for westeners who have the habit of not using names correctly. Some countries already using correct name since the beginning.


Considering NPR is right on board with such "symbolic causes" when they're popular enough. the fact that they're not using the new spelling immediately is telling, isn't it?


The original title mentions the new name. I don't think anyone is expected to be using it immediately though as people will struggle to get what it means. It's more amusing that this is what is of concern to the government at this time.
