Surprisingly low salaries for a major bank. £35k for a London-based SRE?

I notice roles such as "Lead Quality Engineer" in London starting at 60k. Given the scale at which Lloyds operates and the absolute requirement to have a high quality consumer experience, the salary (for a lead role!) almost seems farcical.

Low salaries for security engineers as well....

Hi, thanks for your interest.

Salaries are set at a team level and align to a grade structure. That specific SRE role is open across the UK, so it's likely that it was setup at a regional pay scale not a London one.

SRE roles pop up every few weeks, and some are specific to locations. If you view some of our previous "who's hiring" posts, they will give you an idea of the salary ranges: https://news.ycombinator.com/threads?id=LloydsBankingGT

I'm guessing this is one reason companies don't like posting salaries. Not saying it's wrong or right...

At least I know within 3 seconds that I can't afford to apply, rather than investing hours to realise I've wasted my time.
