The client should be considered insecure as it runs on a device the bank does not control, and their backend should be built with that in mind. So why does it matter if the device is jail broken or not?

Yep i agree with you and I don’t know why they do it, but I have run into one bank app that doesn’t let check deposits on a jailbroken phone
