I use the chrome 'translate this page' feature quite a lot every day to get by in a country that doesn't speak my native language. I realize it's about the only thing keeping me using chrome, and I'm also not happy with how much PI I am shipping off tho the translation API. I'm not sure compiling chromium with my own developer key is any better. Are there any alternatives to this feature? I have tried the safari page translation, but it refreshes pages when you switch which makes it unusable. also automatic OCR and translation of the web pages that are have all their text in images would be a dream.
