I've held this view for a long time, since the day I realized the average politician was morally inferior to the average citizen.


Yeah, it's such an obvious selection bias toward good optics at the expense of content.


The problem is that averages are constructs of the mind. It is a fallacy to think that random citizens are average citizens. You can average numbers, you cannot average people.
