Hey HN! For the past few months I’ve been plagued by the idea of scrolling through Hacker News on an iPod so I finally decided to bring it to life (using iPod.js). It works for HN, and then I added some other stuff like Twitter and watching Youtube videos in cover flow.
Whoa, this is really cool. It really does remind me of how using the original iPod felt, which is weird in an especially fun and awkward way because I tried it from an Android device.
What it is about this idea that is so sticky and inspiring for you?

As for the idea, it's sort of the nostalgia trip paired with the idea of browsing modern sites with an outdated device. Similar to people who connect old computers to the internet in unexpected ways.
I love the idea of browsing through instagram photos on a physical iPod, or tweets/HN posts, adding a more limited but tactile feel to social media. And there were some limitations with the APIs we had available, but I think it was still worth it in the end.
