Anecdotally, libav/ffmpeg have the worst API I've ever had the displeasure of using. Getting anything working falls firmly in the realm of masochism.

My only helpful use of chatGPT was "How do I shrink this video and make a thumbnail using ffmpeg..." with some specifics. Definitely flags in there I'd never think of.

It's not even the CLI. I'm talking about the C API. It's nearly unnavigable.
