Redbox Owner Interested in Buying Netflix’s DVD Business (hollywoodreporter.com)

I would love to see this happen. Netflix DVD is one of the only reasons I never suspend my Netflix account. We use it to get movies and other content that are not available on any of the (many) streaming services we subscribe to. I don't understand a businesses shutting down outright rather than selling the business to someone that would be happy to take it over, assuming it is still, or could be, profitable.

I wonder at what point it's cheaper to just aggressively hire the talent that will be lost in the RIF and buy up the warehouse/distribution centers.

I'd imagine the tech side of things are pretty proprietary and still in use on the streaming side.

Still a lot of movies that are not streaming due to royalties or lack of popularity

Will never happen due to corporate politics.

Some Netflix VP would have to sign off on the transaction and then will wind up fired from the embarassment of having Redbox make the DVD business grow.

I'd like to get all of it into Murfie... If I can ever get it restarted...

Is there a Discogs for video media? Is that what Murfie is/was?

Hope you can!

Since I've moved back to watching all of my movies on DVDs again, this could be excellent for me.
