Riffing on this in from another HN thread which I brought email and the spam problem into .. it's noticeable this writeup doesn't say "then install postfix or sendmail" because for some time now, the last thing you want to do is try and self host even with a mail-in-a-box precanned recipe: it's just wiser to go with a hosted solution, but consequently incur some risks of capture and cost.
