elixir is so beautiful and expressive...it really sucks that it's almost impossible to find it in use in a company.
I don't understand how there's so much old school oop frameworks in the wild and not enough elixir/phoenix :/
I managed to move into one pretty quickly after learning it and adding it to things like LinkedIn as a preferred language. There are companies out there but the pool is smaller for sure. The upside is a lot of companies using it will happily hire remote because that's the only way to get a reasonable sized candidate pool.
It's not that bad, I'm on my second Elixir job in 3 years and in Asia which is even harder to find.
There are a good amount of jobs in the US or in Europe but you have to actively look for them...
I can however say that working with Elixir has been really pleasant and even enjoyable, and I'm not someone who codes outside of work. I'd definitely recommend it!
I feel ya. It's definitely difficult to find work. I've started to focus a lot more on my own elixir projects than my current employment since they have zero interest.
