Is Mac on the verge of a gaming revolution? (eurogamer.net)

Considering Apple dropped support for 3rd party GPUs and there's no way to upgrade the integrated GPU on the latest Mac Pro I doubt it. Game devs will probably take Macs more seriously and port more games but I highly doubt Macs will become popular with gamers in general or a primary platform for game studios. I think something Linux based like SteamOS will become the gaming alternative to Windows long before macOS ever does.

Not when I can build a solid PC that can match Macs performance for much less money, customized to my exact specs.

That was my stance for the past decades. However the new Mac Minis are seriously challenging this assumption. They are small, silent and seriously beefy for the price. I didn't try gaming but running Blender on it impressed me.

You can build a gaming PC for far less money than an iPhone, but the iPhone is still the most popular device in the world to play games on because so many people own them.

>> the iPhone is still the most popular device in the world to play games on because so many people own them.

Many more people own Android smartphones than iPhones:

Android smartphones are a big target for games:

The iPhone might get some games that Android does not, but most iPhone apps will also cost more which means fewer people will play those games.

From those facts, I doubt that "the iPhone is still the most popular device in the world to play games on".

Do you have any references to support your statement?

No.
