Go did acquire some of that though; a few packages are deprecated, some have different ways of doing the same thing (e.g. the addition of context and fs packages added new paradigms, and later netip and new JSON package added "urllib2"-like "v2" packages), and some things weren't really a good idea to start with.

I do think the situation is better than in Python and overall not bad after 12 years, but it's not as clean and minimalist as it could be.



I think they're saving up a list of things to clean up for a possible Go V2, but at the same time they're in no rush because the things they could strip out aren't painful enough yet.
