As one with multiple homeschooled siblings, one who won a ton of college scholarship money, and knowing other homeschoolers who have done the same thing, I know this is an outright lie. The teachers unions hate homeschoolers and school choice because it lessens their power.
The College Board used to separately publish test scores of homeschool students vs everyone else, and the home schoolers always did better. For some mysterious reason, they quit publishing them separately any more.
