that's so interesting, the 'dead' vs. 'killed'-ish selective bias in language is something I habitually notice

i checked latest headlines about gaza by reuter

> Israeli air strike kills nine in Gaza, local ministry says, during ceasefire disputes

> Israel strikes kill five people in Gaza, local medics say

> Israeli strikes kill 15 people in Gaza over past day, Palestinian medics say

> Five UNRWA staff killed in Gaza, fears worst is yet to come

> One killed in strike on UN site in Gaza, Israeli army denies attack

> Gaza hospitals overwhelmed by hundreds of injured from Israeli barrage

> ICRC: hospitals in Gaza struggling to cope with casualties

> Gaza hospitals overwhelmed by hundreds of injured from Israeli barrage

> In pictures: Israel airstrikes kill over 400 in Gaza after two months of truce

> Israeli fire kills four Palestinians in Gaza, amid new ceasefire talks

> Hamas armed wing says it fired rockets against Tel Aviv

> At least 91 killed in Gaza as Israel abandons ceasefire, orders evacuations

> Gaza death toll: how many Palestinians has Israel's offensive killed?

have to say, although there're several headlines like 'killed by [what]' and 'Palestinian say', reuter is less biased than other medias like BBC: https://x.com/BBCWorld/status/1711340677571674567

and I found other articles about this when i dig into it

https://www.glasgowmediagroup.org/downloads/17-war-and-confl... (2010)

https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/war-gaza-how-media-langua... (2023)

Then I noticed the author - Geoffrey K. Pullum, a linguist specialising in the study of English

So I try to discover some more recent works of the Professor

unfortunately the only thing I can find is this:

> The Israel/Palestine Dispute Is Ill-Served by Uninformed Grammar Nitpicking (2018)
