I’ve been studying how extremely small browser racing games manage to feel surprisingly smooth even without real physics engines.
Most of the interesting parts come from:
– camera damping rather than car physics
– simplified friction curves
– fake drift angles
– velocity clamping that makes the handling feel stable
– micro-delays that give a sense of weight
