Good question. Immobilise focuses on stolen rather than lost items, and relies on contact with a participating Police force.
One of our main aims with LoseProof is to make the process of recovering a lost item quicker, easier and more convenient. We also have a low entry cost (vs. other similar products), which lets users protect items that might have a lower physical value, but immeasurable personal worth.
I think you've hit the nail on the head here. So many people here in the UK live within a few miles of some amazing independent food producers but use them rarely, if ever. That's the problem we want to solve.
We're definitely going to tighten up the message on the site to clarify why we think people should join – thanks for the feedback.
Thanks Tom. Really appreciate the feedback. We're getting a privacy policy & terms in place as we speak.
We'll look into what we legally need to have on the site too.
Thanks! Us too – it's something that we feel just hasn't been executed in the right way yet.
We're focussing first on creating a platform for local producers & consumers to connect before we tackle distribution. We've got some interesting ideas on the cards though when the time comes. Would be great to hear your thoughts on it.
I like your approach: test the market without taking risks, and learn on how locals handle it themselves.
Can't think on a better way of doing it. Distribution can kill your idea. At the same time, it's the best selling point of it. If users are buying through the website, they expect a quality deliver, which is not always easy to get, and is expensive too.
On a sidenote: let sellers express themselves. I would not buy groceries from a craigslist-sort site. I would if I can see photos, location, and know more about the product and the business ethics of the seller.
Thanks! The hidden nav is certainly a risk. The bumps on the bottom of the bar try to suggest it, but are very subtle. A major overhaul like this would involve some marketing efforts, and/or a NUX tutorial upon first launch. They'd lose that chunk of existing users who hate change, no matter what progress is made. I can picture the streams of tweet rage already...
Recommendations on clearer nav icons? Always seeking constructive feedback from people wiser than I.
